Leeds castle is one of the loveliest castles in England. Situated about 40 miles east of London, Leeds Castle is an ideal destination for day trips from London.
The castle has been in existence since the Norman times. It has also served as a royal residence for many years. Some parts of the castle still retain the Medieval and Tudor influences.
In 1926, the castle was purchased by Lady Baillie, a wealthy Anglo-American heiress who renovated the castle to its current form. Upon her death the castle became a part of the Leeds Castle Foundation and has been opened to public since then.
